01

About the project

What is Lusitano Retreat, exactly?

A regenerative eco-retreat being created in Norte Portugal — timber-clad stay units set inside a productive landscape of orchard, herbs, vegetables, water features, and solar. It is designed as one coherent ecosystem, not a row of units on a plot.

What stage is the project at?

We are at stage one of four: securing the land. After that comes licensing, the 21-day build sprint, and then the open retreat. The status bar on every page shows where we are in real time.

Is this built yet? Can I visit?

Not yet — we are still acquiring the right land. You can join the waitlist now to be among the first invited once the build is complete, and you can follow the whole build in public across our channels.

02

For landowners (rent-to-buy)

What is the rent-to-buy proposal?

A non-binding structure where we lease your land or rural property with an option to buy, improving it and paying rent while we operate — so you keep ownership and receive income while the project proves itself. Every term is discussed openly and reviewed by Portuguese lawyers before anything is signed.

What kind of land are you looking for?

A few acres of rural land or a quinta in the Porto–Braga–Norte corridor, ideally with water (well, stream, or rainwater potential) and a viable path to licensing. We assess each property for planning and environmental constraints before any offer.

Do I lose control of my land?

No. A lease with a purchase option means you remain the owner unless and until the option is exercised. You are always welcome on the land, and nothing is committed without your agreement and independent legal review.

03

Visiting & staying

How do I stay at the retreat?

Join the waitlist. It is free and puts you first in line for founding-guest stays once we open. We will only take paid bookings once the land is secured and the proper Portuguese licensing (AL/RNAL) is in place.

What will a stay be like?

Premium-rustic and quiet: timber-clad units settled into the landscape, food grown on site, natural water, sauna, and outdoor activity — closer to a working farm-retreat than a hotel.

04

Volunteering & the build

Can I help build it?

Yes — the September build sprint runs on volunteers, makers, and creators. We will open structured volunteer places (with proper insurance and supervision) once the land is secured. Follow the build or message us to register early interest.

Can I copy your designs for my own land?

Please do. The Open Blueprint, Build Library, and Field Guides are published so anyone can learn from and reuse them. Building in public is the whole point.
